How to apply for a Vietnam visa on arrival?
To receive a visa on arrival at an entry airport, an individual foreigner needs an entry approval letter and a passport valid for 6 months. Besides, you need to pay the visa fee issued at the Landing visa area at the airport.
What is the entry approval letter?
The entry approval letter is written approval from the Immigration Department that allows individual foreigners (including names, date of birth, nationality, and passport number) to enter Vietnam once or multiple times. This official letter is issued by the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam at the request of an individual, organization, or company in Vietnam submitting an application.
After receiving the entry letter, you may proceed to enter Vietnam within the validity period and receive your visa on arrival at the airport.
Procedures for an entry letter
Required documents are as follows:
- NA2 form request for entry approval letter NA2, with bar code.
- Copy of valid passport for at least 6 months and with at least 2 blank pages.
- Legal documents of sponsor businesses or individuals:

- Notarized copy of business registration certificate or business operation license.
- Form NA16 with signature and seal of business representative.
- Invitation letter for representative at the Vietnamese Immigration Department

- Form NA2 requires complete information about the date of entry, exit, and schedule of the applicant. This is the basis for the Immigration Department to consider and issue visas on arrival for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and up to 1 year, single or multiple entries.
- For working purposes, foreigners need to have an entry approval letter from the People’s Committee of the province or city where the foreigner works.

The content of the entry letter includes the following information:
- Full name, gender, date of birth, nationality, passport number, Visa expiry date, day of entry and exit, times of entry into Vietnam
- Permission for the foreigners with the above information to enter and issue visas on arrival at the designated international airport in Vietnam.
